Bruce Smith has a BA in Music Education from East Carolina and an MA in Music Education from the University of SC. He began his professional music career with U.S. Army Bands serving as a Warrant Officer Bandmaster and jazz keyboardist worldwide.   He is also an accomplished jazz and pop vocalist. His musical influences are jazz, funk, R&B, and blues.  Bruce plays piano and keyboard bass while providing vocals for Daze Work.

Doug Mayes began playing saxophone as a kid after an encounter with a Dexter Gordon album ignited a lifelong passion for jazz. He's studied with noted jazz trombonist and educator Tommy Smith and Frank Bongiorno during his time at UNCW in the 90's. Since then, he's been active on the jazz scene in Wilmington, Phoenix and Raleigh. He currently is featured in several local area bands. His powerful sound is a perfect blend of jazz, soul, and funk!

Originally from Cherryville, NC, Bill Hayes received his music degree from Appalachian State University and has performed extensively throughout the southeast US and northern Texas area.  He currently resides in Raleigh and serves as principle percussionist with the Triangle Wind Ensemble, and is a first call for many area church orchestras.  He has performed drums with many jazz groups in the triangle area including The Michael Jones Trio, and Moments Notice.   Bill is a tasteful drummer with extraordinary technique making him a perfect fit for the music and styles of Daze Work.
